CALGARY HIGHLAND GAMES - LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Good Day Calgary Highlanders,

It is that time of year again! The Highland Games are almost upon us and we are desperately needing a minimum of 20 volunteers from all four Calgary Highlander Cadet Corps. The Calgary Highlanders regiment is also welcome if anyone would also like to help out you are more than welcome. The more volunteers the better! This is one of the volunteering events that happens every year for the Calgary Highlanders cadet Corps and it is a great time had by everyone.
We are needing help in every area of the games, Piping and Drumming, Gates, Information Booth, survey taking, setting up on Friday, Tear Down on Saturday, General Maintenance.
This year the games will be held on September 2, 2017, 2014. Admittance to the games is free for volunteers. Please log on and sign up and check out which area you would like to help out in and sign up as a volunteer.

Every year the Calgary Highland Games gives the 2137 Calgary Highlanders an area that we can set up a recruiting tent for free so we will need a minimum five cadets to man the tent (one cadet form each star level would be amazing) these cadets will need to be in full highland kit/uniform. All other cadets will be in corps t-shits, parents will be in volunteer t-shirts supplied by the games.
This is a great way to show some of the citizenship spirit that is part of the Cadet Corps.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Dani Pavez special evets coordinator at lokie29@hotmail.com

Thank you all for your help,
I look forward to seeing everyone there.

CADETS NEEDED FOR STAMPEDE PARADE AND FOR GRANDSTAND SHOW!!!

I have already posted this before, but am reposting as I have not received any response to this.  Please see the following documents for information on the Grandstand Show and for the Stampede Parade.  I know that some of you will already be at summer camp, but for those who are not attending or are attending later on in the summer, here are some awesome reasons why you want to sign-up for these activities:

Get into the Stampede for FREE
Get to see the Grandstand Show for FREE
Showcase the Canadian Cadet Movement and our corps to the WORLD - you will be on national TV
Meet up/reconnect with cadets from other elements
Meet hundreds of visitors from around the world and show them how awesome it is to be a Calgarian and a Canadian

This is the largest cadet representation the Calgary Stampede has ever had!  Let's get out there and show everyone what it means to be a Highlander!!  By also participating in these activities, it will put you at an advantage when it comes to summer camp selections, awards, activities only for selected cadets, etc.

SUMMER CAMP JOINING INSTRUCTIONS AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Just a reminder that all Joining Instructions for Summer Training are on the corps website:  Training Info>Summer Training>Joining Instructions.  There is also a link for the Parental Pick-Up Form and Consent of Release and Liability.  Only fill out this form if you are planning on either dropping off and/or picking up your child from the summer training centre or if you want to visit your cadet and take them off base.  Please email these forms to Maj Sun so that she can let Region know to update the travel orders.  Your travel orders should reflect Parental Pick-Up if you have submitted the form.

Cadets, you will also need to bring a piece of government-issued Photo ID in order to get onto your transport.  Learner's/driver's license, Passport all work as forms of government-issued photo ID.  If you do not have any of those items, you can go to any Registry and obtain government-issued photo ID for around $50.

Your Summer Contact Officer is Maj Sun.  Any questions regarding camp, your travel orders, etc, can be directed to her.  You may contact her via email:  julie.sc.sun@gmail.com.

TRAVEL ORDERS FOR CADETS GOING TO SUMMER TRAINING!!

The following cadets have travel orders in our system.  You either would've received them at the summer training briefing held at the beginning of June or received via email today (26 Jun).  If you are going to summer camp and HAVE NOT received your travel orders, first, check your email (or junk email in case it was flagged as inappropriate).  If you still do not have it, please contact Maj Sun and she can double-check for you.  Also ensure the dates of travel match the dates of your course.  if they do not match, please let Maj Sun know immediately so that it can get fixed.  As always, any questions, please contact Maj Sun.
